I graduated from Columbia College with my Bachelor's in Psychology/Sociology. I then went on to the University of Missouri where I graduated with my MSW in social work, and I am now a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.  I have been working in the mental health field for the past eight years. Prior to my career in mental health, I served as an EMT for 15 years. As a result, I desire to work with individuals who are in the medical, fire, and law enforcement sectors. I know the types of things that these professionals have seen and dealt with, and how hard it can be to reach out for help when they are normally the ones others rely upon. I really hope to help anyone who struggles with trauma, depression, anxiety, grief and loss, substance use, and more.  

 

I am EMDR certified.  I also utilize a person-centered, solution-focused approach. I want to help you gain the tools you need to deal with difficult situations now, as well as in the future. Everyone knows there will always be "those" days when you have to use skills you've learned throughout your life to navigate past rough circumstances.  In therapy, I will help you to identify when and how to use these types of skills.  You will also learn to recognize supports that you already have in your life.  We will take the skills that you already have, and you will gain new ones that will allow you to become the best you can be, and help you to feel less distressed.  My goal is for you to feel good about yourself and where you are going in your life.
